About

Hello – I’m a leadership coach, facilitator, trainer and consultant based in York working with individuals and organisations around the UK

I believe we need more diverse, collaborative and inclusive leaders. Therefore I focus on developing and diversifying leadership and encouraging high-performing, inclusive and collaborative cultures at work.

My approach as a coach, consultant and trainer is rooted in nearly 30 years’ hands-on experience as an arts professional working with all types and scales of clients from artists through to national companies and museums. I began my career in the mid 1990s in curatorial roles at Leeds City Art Gallery and Yorkshire Sculpture Park before moving into funding and development with London Arts Board / Arts Council England and later as Head of Arts at British Council France. Over the past decade I’ve held interim senior management roles at Tate Liverpool and Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art, and delivered a variety of successful independent projects helping people and organisations to learn and create change.

I trained as a coach in 2010 and a strong coaching ethos underpins all my work – building confidence, clarity and commitment to achieve better performance. With a background in research, I ensure my practice is informed by current thinking, but not hampered by jargon or unnecessary complexity. I work with a wide range of people and organisations from artists and volunteer-run museums through to universities and national museums and arts companies.

Over the past decade I’ve completed two major research projects into co-leadership and published widely on this emerging area – you can read more about my research and access free  resources at www.coleadership.info I also offer specialist coaching support packages for co-leaders and their organisations – please get in touch for more information.

Currently I’m working part-time, due to caring responsibilities, when not at work I can usually be found somewhere hilly, running or climbing mountains.
